GREAT JAZZ IN THE HEART OF EAST SUSSEX!

A new show devised by Enrico Tomasso

After WW2, the Musician’s Union banned American musicians from visiting the UK. After much discussion, it was agreed in the early 1950s that USA players could “swap” with UK ones which resulted in us in getting Louis Armstrong plus his Allstars whilst the States got Freddy Randall – a mediocre trumpeter!!

Thus in 1956 in the Empress hall, Tim Lord travelled to see this great player. The warm-up band was Humphrey Littleton!! Tim says that it was a magic night with the band that appeared in the film “High Society”.

On April 28th, Rico will be bringing Julian Stringle on clarinet, Dave Green on bass, Nick Millward on drums, Martin Litton on piano and Ian Bateman on trombone to recreate the Armstrong Allstars. It’s just about the best we have!!
